NONPROFIT THRIFT STORE “THE FABULOUS FIND” REOPENS IN NEW KITTERY LOCATION

Donations Needed to Fund Store’s Monthly Charitable Gifts to Seacoast Nonprofits

February 18, 2013 - Kittery, Maine - The Fabulous Find Thrift Shop has reopened for business in a new,

larger location at 139 State Road in Kittery. A February Donation Drive is in progress, and a Grand
Opening celebration is planned for Saturday, February 23 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

With a loyal following as a boutique-style thrift shop, The Fabulous Find had outgrown its old location in

just over two years, and purchased the new building with fifty percent more space in January.

“Taking ownership of this highly visible expanded space solidifies our commitment to making a difference

in the Seacoast for decades to come,” said Anne Hunter, store manager. “But we truly do not do it alone--
the daily donations of goods, work of store volunteers, and support of our patrons are all critical pieces of
the puzzle for our mission of community support for great causes.”

The Fabulous Find sells donated higher-quality clothing, home goods, furniture, music and books to raise

funds for a variety of 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations which apply for consideration. To date, nearly
$250,000 has been raised and donated.

“Our $4,000 gift from The Fabulous Find moves us closer to the creation of the African Burying Ground

Memorial Park in Portsmouth, and has brought substantial visibility to the project,” said Vernis Jackson,
chair of the organization’s committee. “We are lucky to have this community support and assistance.”

A number of local businesses have generously donated or discounted goods and services to make The

Fabulous Find’s move successful. They include: Salmon Falls Nursery and Landscaping of Berwick,
Fernald Construction of Cape Neddick, Eldredge Lumber of York, Absolute Power of Berwick, Dow Hill
Architects of Sanford, Exeter Decorating of Exeter, and Perry Plumbing and Heating of Portsmouth.

Many Seacoast businesses, including Salmon Falls Nursery & Landscaping,
have helped to make The Fabulous Find's relocation and expansion possible.

SALMON FALLS NURSERY & LANDSCAPING INSTALLS 28-FOOT EVERGREEN TREE AT SANFORD’S GOODALL HOSPITAL

Special-Project Installation Will Become “Sustainable” Christmas Tree for Facility

Landscaping Company Berwick Maine
November 8, 2012 - Berwick, Maine - Salmon Falls Nursery and Landscaping has just successfully completed one of its largest tree installations to date, at Goodall Hospital, a member of MaineHealth, in Sanford. This full-grown, twenty-eight-foot evergreen has been planted at the hospital’s main entrance, and will be decorated each holiday season as its living Christmas tree, with a special first lighting this December.

“This installation at Goodall was a challenge, even with our expertise,” said Salmon Falls’ owner Mark Pendergast. “It is pretty unheard-of to plant a tree of this size, as most trees we source and install come in between eight and eighteen feet tall. Ultimately we used a tree from our own nursery, because our first attempt at shipping a specimen from NH for the hospital was not successful--trees can be very sensitive. We pride ourselves on our ability to take on these types of large scale landscaping projects.”

The evergreen had to be hand-dug from SFN&L’s nursery, as the tree ball was too large for the customary digging by spade. Salmon Falls Nursery and Landscaping then transported it on a flatbed truck to Goodall Hospital. The entire installation process took three days.

Patsy Aprile, President & CEO of Goodall Hospital, said: “We are delighted to now have this magnificent outdoor centerpiece at Goodall Hospital. Every holiday season, it will be a ‘sustainable’ Christmas tree that is sure to be a show-stopper for our patients, visitors, and staff alike. We had a vision of an impressively grand fir tree at Goodall’s front entrance, and Salmon Falls Nursery and Landscaping made it happen for us.”

Goodall invites the general public, as well as everyone at the hospital, to the first lighting of the new tree on Tuesday, December 11th, at 5:30 p.m.

Fall Landscape Maintenance Services

Your landscape is an investment that should last a lifetime, and in order to maintain that landscaping in the fall & winter months certain services are recommended:

Lawn Aeration:

This consists of plugging hollow tines into the soil surface and pulling out a soil plug. Vital exchanges can now take place: oxygen, for root growth enters the compacted layer and carbon dioxide escapes. Water can penetrate to the roots carrying essential nutrients and flush out toxic salts.

Lawn Compost:

Spread organic compost over lawn after aeration to add essential minerals to lawn which aids in growth over the winter months.

Fall Cleanup:

Leaves will be raked and removed from property. Lawn areas will be mowed. Trimming will be done around buildings, walkways, and trees. All refuse hauled from property.

Fall Annuals:

Fall annuals will be installed upon customer request an include mums, flowering kale, and/or flowering cabbage.
Please call us at (207) 384-5540 for these important maintenance services.
